A REALLY BAD FARSCAPE FIC I DID!

Title: Sleepless
Setting/Spoilers: No spoilers really. It's set during season 3, sometime between episodes 'Green Eyed Monster' and 'Fractures' from the John-on-Moya's POV. John/Chiana, John/Aeryn.
Rating: PG
Disclaimer: I don't own them.
Notes: Before starting the nifty PSL with Diana, I figured that I should test my skills with Crichton before royally screwing him up. Oh, and Chiana is in there just because she is awesome like that. First Farscape fic. Unbeta'd. (And I know that American Idol only came out in '02 and John came on Moya in '99 (or I assume since that's when the show started) thus meaning he wouldn't know what American Idol was, but the opportunity was too good to pass up. XD Constructive criticism is more than welcome!

All John wanted to do was sleep. Ever since Aeryn had left with his newly acquired twin aboard Talyn, most of his days haven't been kind to him in the least. Not to mention his current wormhole obsession that had been eating at him like some sort of starved animal. With a continuous lack of sleep and angry frustration beginning to surface, John's moods weren't exactly inviting either. He often found himself yelling rather than talking and sending out sarcastic remarks to whoever questioned him. His attitude was beginning to take it's toll on the other members of the crew because one solar day couldn't pass without some sort of shouting match. It was only after D'Argo's temper had finally reached it's boiling point with Crichton that he was forced to 'tongue' him so that he'd finally shut the frell up. Jool, Chiana and Pilot didn't need to express their thanks.

A few arns later, John found himself in his bed, both pissed and absolutely exhausted. After unsuccessfully trying to get up and kill D'Argo, he fell back defeated. Well, he'd kill him later. John closed his heavy eyes and pulled the twisted blanket around him. He was just starting to fall asleep (with lovely, animated images of him doing awful-yet-satisfying things to that stupid Luxan) when he suddenly felt someone (or worse, something) crawl in next to him. John yelped before rolling near off the bed.

"Blez out, Crichton." Came a familiar voice, half-amused, half-annoyed.

John had to blink several times before realizing that a grey Nabari was in bed with him. "Pip," he started, his voice froggy. "Whaddya doing in here?"

"Couldn't sleep," she responded cheerfully. "Now stop hogging the blanket."

Despite the bed being incredibly small in the first place, John complied and gave her some covers. "So you decided to come and wake me up?" He didn't mean to sound snappy - especially to Chiana, but he was tired and didn't know when else he was actually going to get another wink of sleep.

Chiana just shrugged. "I find it better to sleep with someone around."

"Why am I not surprised?" John muttered, rolling on his side. He could feel Chiana's hot glare on his back. He sighed and turned to face her. "Chi, I'm sorry. I didn't mean that."

Chiana gave him a tiny a smile before moving her hand to gently touch the side of his face. "I know. Even if you are being a total dranick, I still love you."

John chuckled. "At least someone still does." He moved onto his back again and stared up at the ceiling. Chiana didn't have to guess what he was thinking about.

"They're okay." She said quietly.

"Huh?" John asked. "Who?"

Chiana sighed and cuddled closer to him. The response was more than obvious that he didn't want to talk about a certain Sebacean who was probably risking her life somewhere in these damn uncharted territories that very moment. John put an arm around the Nabari. "Tired yet?"

"A little."

John closed his eyes again and started to hum. Sure, it wasn't any sort of real lullaby, but he figured that his rendition of Elvis' 'I Want You, I Need You, I Love You' counted.

"You know what, Crichton? You're one of the most strangest creatures I've ever met."

John stopped humming and laughed. "You should hear my singing. Gives William Hung a run for his money."

"I have," Chiana grinned. "That was the day I went deaf."

He playfully poked her in the ribs. "Go to sleep, Pip."

Chiana gave him a light kiss on the cheek before closing her own eyes. A few microts later, Chiana's heavy breathing indicated that she was indeed fast asleep. John on the other hand, was wide awake. Chiana's comment about Aeryn and the others kept replaying in his head like a broken record. They're okay. He desperately wanted to believe her. He wanted to stay positive, but every time he tried, he just kept thinking of all the horrible things that could (if not already) happen to them. To her. He'd seen enough things by now to know that anything was possible.

John rolled over on his side again, away from the sleeping Chiana. It was going to be another sleepless night.

I like this, Bert. I've always loved that playful energy between them and wanted to stab the writers for not really exploring it further. You captured it very well.

Aw, thank you! I absolutely love the John/Chiana relationship. I found myself loving their scenes more than the John/Aeryn ones. >_>

Do the characters seem really in character? Because that's my biggest fear when writing or thinking about fanfiction. It seems right in my mind of course, but I can't trust anything I think ;D

What I like about this story is John's trust and ease with Chiana. She is playful but he is mindful of her youth and doesn't want to mess up the friendship. You caught that vibe beautifully. He WAS in a totally pissanty mood and obsessed with wormholes. You get his snarky voice very well. I see Moya!John as also quite volatile and anxious and trying desperately to be a little "normal" (or what seems Normal for a guy lost among aliens with an exact duplicate away with his girlfriend). You captured that anxiety and confusion as well. I also love John and Chiana's relationship more than John/Aeryn's more romantic tortured love affair. So this story is very very good. Please keep writing these as there is only a little John/Chiana in the actual show.

Wow, thank you SO much! This comment really means a lot to me. :) I'll definitely be writing more John/Chiana in the near future. It really is sad that no one writes much of it. :/
